Where the Light Gets In is the impeccable debut restaurant from ex L’Enclume chef and local Stockport lad, Sam Buckley. After years working alongside Michelin-spangled greats like Paul Kitching, Gary Rhodes and Simon Rogan, Sam opened WTLGI in 2016 and it was quick to gain legend status, earning instant rave reviews.
From the first floor of a coffee warehouse down a Dickensian-looking alley in Stockport’s Old Town, Sam and his team conjure up ingenious multi-course tasting menus from whatever they can procure from their close-knit community of British suppliers – as well as their rooftop kitchen garden – that week. It is this level of commitment to using strictly seasonal, consciously-sourced produce that earned the team a Michelin Green Star in 2021 (which they have since retained).
Bookings in the intimate, 30-seater space are, unsurprisingly, not always easy to come by, so we’re more than chuffed to be bringing a taste of this northern culinary institution to the capital for two weeks in March. Expect impressively innovative, seasonal British cooking at its very best.
