Meet Rahel Stephanie, AKA Spoons, AKA the hottest name around right now. One of Vogue’s “new generation of supper club queens championing their culture’s cuisine”, Rahel is on a mission to make us fall in love with the food of her beloved homeland [spoiler alert: it’s working].
What started out as a platform to share her cooking with friends, Spoons (a nod to Indonesia’s cutlery of choice) has been a runaway success. Recently adopting a more omnivore approach, representing “the complexities in Indonesian flavour profiles” through a diverse range of Indonesian and British produce, you can now expect knockout dishes like ‘Cured Mackerel Sambal Matah’; ‘Grilled Marinated Beef Ribs, Spiced Kecap Manis’ with ‘Pandan Rice’ and her signature ‘Glutinous Black Sesame-Coconut Cake’.
Rahel’s previous one-night-only supper clubs at Carousel have sold out in hours, literally. With no plans to open a permanent spot any time soon, this is your chance to experience the unforgettably vibrant flavours of Sumatra to Jakarta, five nights on the bounce, right here on Charlotte Street.
