Unlike any other restaurant in town, or anywhere else for that matter, Stockholm’s iconoclastic Punk Royale is at once bonkers, genius, audacious and pretty much impossible to book.

Unapologetically in your face, this is a place that locks away your phone on arrival (no photos please) before launching into a breakneck polyphonic tasting menu of pure unadulterated decadence. Gilded with luxury ingredients most of us can only dream of (think lobster, white truffle and foie gras) the food is sublime – exceptional in fact – but it’s the manner in which it’s dished up that has guests pinching themselves (no, this isn’t a dream and yes, you really did just eat caviar from the top of your hand, chased down with a shot of ice-cold vodka…). Like the sound system and the smoke machine (yep), the flavours at Punk Royale are turned up to eleven at all times. It’s not for the faint hearted but then who cares? You’re allowed to have fun, you know…
