Eddy Tejada and Matthew Scott are HOT 4 U, one of the breakout success stories of this weird old year.
The duo teamed up in the early days of lockdown to scratch their cooking itch, bursting onto London’s rapidly evolving delivery scene with a weekly-changing menu of inspired originals, but an impromptu project to “stave off boredom during a pandemic” quickly transformed into a tie dye carnival of zero waste and zero f*cks that has taken the capital by storm.
Eddy (ex-St John & Silo) and Matthew (ex-Cub) are all about the good times. They are the fun, and just a little bit outrageous, face of ‘closed loop’ cooking, and as they showed us when we teamed up in August for their sold-out “dad’s BBQ”, they have a way with flavour that can transform even the most humble and unloved of ingredients into headline acts.
Their return to Carousel features wonderful things like ‘fried prawns heads, prawn tartare and chilli de adobo’, their signature ‘HOT 4 U pancake with XO sauce’ and a locally-sourced ‘sake lee ice cream sandwich’ that’s already a strong contender for best thing you ate in 2020.
