A series of panel talks hosted by Clare Finney

Hungry Heart: Stories of Food & Love

From family feasts to comfort food, first dates to office cake; how does what we eat define us, and the relationships we have with others? Why does food and drink have such power to attract, bind and define us—as well as divide and repel?

These are some of the questions Clare set out to answer in her critically-acclaimed book Hungry Heart: A Story of Food and Love, which came out earlier this year; and now she’s bringing that conversation to Carousel together with some of the best-known (and best loved) people in food, including Olia Hercules (Mamushka, Home Food, Saturday Kitchen), Joe Woodhouse (Your Daily Veg), Karan Gokani (Hoppers), Robin Gill (Darby’s, Bottle and Rye, Rye by the Water), Gurdeep Loyal (Mother Tongue), Chantelle Nicholson (Apricity), Bre Graham (Table for Two), Amy Poon (Poon’s Wontoneria) and Tara Wigley (How to Butter Toast, Ottolenghi).

Praise for Hungry Heart

“The best kind of investigation/rumination/exposition on the places where food meets human emotion. Warm and lovely, but gently scholarly and greatly improving to the soul”   Tim Hayward, Financial Times

“A book that will appeal to anyone with a Vittles subscription as much as someone trying to figure out what really nourishes them, in every sense of the word”   British Vogue

“A brave and honest book that is both deeply personal and about every one of us”   Diana Henry

“Heartfelt and warming, in word and recipe, with a candour and honesty that deserves the greatest accolade”   Jeremy Lee

“A thoughtful, beautifully written meditation on our often complex relationship with food – a book to savour”   Felicity Cloake
