Next week we’re shaking things up.
A last minute guest chef drop out (c’est la vie) means we finally get to do something we’ve been itching to for a while; our very own Carousel cantina, inspired by some of the team’s favourite low-key neighbourhood spots in Mexico City and some of the all-time great staff meals from Pachi, Alejandra, Nico and Celia.
Introducing – for one week only – the grand old lady of cantinas, Doña…
When life gives you lemons, make cóctel de camarones: iconic, Acapulco-style prawn cocktail… Or enfrijoladas de papá con flor de calabaza: zucchini flower and potato quesadillas drenched in refried black beans. Or dorado a la talla: grilled sea bream in adobo, with heirloom corn tortillas and a trio of homemade hot sauces… You get the idea.
Expect ice-cold buckets of beer, music cranked way up, and a good-time, party-atmosphere. The short, crowd-pleasing menu is fully à la carte and extremely good value, and we’re also doing staggered sittings (with walk-ins very welcome).
And because this one’s DIY, we’re donating our regular guest chef fee to Choose Love, whose partners on the ground are providing essential support to families affected by the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
