Rahel Stephanie’s supper clubs sell out in minutes. Don’t believe us? The last time Spoons popped up at Carousel, the tickets were snapped up in less than 60 seconds… Wild.
Taking inspiration from both the street food and home-cooking of Indonesia, Rahel’s menus are fully plant-based, featuring flavour-packed dishes like tempe mendoan, nasi daun jeruk and bolu kojo (look ‘em up).
Rahel is fully self-taught, having learnt much of what she knows from the Indonesian ‘aunties’ of YouTube and her own adventures traversing the streets and homes of her home country.
On the menu for Rahel’s second Carousel supper club? ‘Tempe Mendoan, Sambal Kecap’ (tempe with spiced kecap manis); Sate Ambal Jamur (marinated and grilled mushroom skewers bathed in a thick, creamy sauce); and ‘Aubergine, Sambal Ijo’ (fried aubergine with a fragrant green chilli relish), to name just a few highlights.
