“Made You Look is a visual celebration of talented black chefs at all levels, who work in some of the country’s best restaurants – yet many of them are unknown…”
Created by photographer, Julian George, the Made You Look exhibition shines a light on these chefs, showcasing their talents and celebrating their achievements. Each portrait is visually striking, designed to surprise the viewer and stop them in their tracks, with a burst of colour that’s indicative of black culture. Julian’s aim is to prompt a “wow, I didn’t know that” reaction, inviting us to look beyond the frames, find out more about these chefs, their stories, and what it’s taken to get to where they are today.
We’re thrilled to bits to be partnering with Julian to give Londoners the opportunity to experience just what these chefs are capable of. Running alongside the exhibition itself in our Next Door gallery space, we will be hosting a month-long ‘Made You Look’ dinner series at Carousel. Working alongside our team, six of the most talented chefs from the exhibition will create a one-off menu for their night, showcasing modern African and Caribbean cuisine at its absolute best.
