6th – 10th September
Read any recent guides to the best restaurants in Mexico City and you’ll be hard-pressed to find one that doesn’t mention Lucho Martìnez’s debut restaurant, Em. One of the Mexican capital’s chefs du moment, Lucho is a prime example of what can happen when you start ‘em young. After moving from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz to Nashville as a child, Lucho got his first kitchen job at just fourteen, before going on to study gastronomy in Cancún in his late teens.
Fast-forward to 2018 and, armed with years of experience working at some of the capital’s culinary icons including Quintonil and Máximo Bistrot, Lucho opened Em (named after his daughter Emilia) in CDMX’s foodiest neighbourhood, Roma Norte. The restaurant gained momentum at lightning speed thanks to the imaginative chef’s innovative, produce-driven tasting menus which playfully marry Mexican favourites like mole and tostadas with Japanese ingredients and Modern European fine dining techniques.
We couldn’t be more excited to have Lucho joining us for the first time in September, serving the kind of creative modern Mexican-Japanese dishes that have made Em such a success. Something tells us this one’s going to be popular, so get in quick if you don’t want to miss out on one of Mexico City’s finest.
