Kerth Gumbs has worked alongside some of the greats, but it was his mother – a chef herself – who inspired him to leave his home on the island of Anguilla and pursue a career in fine dining.

Upon reaching London, Kerth quickly rose through the ranks of some of the city’s most celebrated kitchens, including Tom Aikens (*), Texture (*) and L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon (**), eventually taking the reins at Ormer Mayfair, which was recognised by Harden’s as one of the top five restaurants in capital under his charge.

Kerth’s approach to cooking is vibrant, colourful and above all fun, with a genuine passion for local and high-quality produce running through dishes like ‘Chalk Stream Trout, Avocado, Daikon, Vietnamese Dressing and Sesame Seed Cracker’ and ‘Paprika-Glazed Pork Loin, Celeriac Lasagna, Aubergine, Baby Artichoke and Nasturtium’.

Kerth was one of the stars of our sell-out ‘Made You Look’ series, celebrating some of the most talented black chefs in the UK, so we are beyond happy that he’s back for round two so soon. You will be too…
