6th – 10th June
We first met Glaswegian Julie Lin last year when she joined us for our International Women’s Day series celebrating the finest female chef talent in the land. We were blown away by her infectious enthusiasm and her explosive Malaysian flavours. One night was nowhere near enough.
Finding a date for a return trip has proven difficult. Julie has since become one of the busiest women in the industry, juggling a burgeoning TV presenting career with the opening of her second runaway success story, Gaga, on Glasgow’s Dumbarton Road. Weaving in the Nyonya flavours of her childhood trips to her grandmother’s in Malaysia, the packed out ‘kitchen and bar’ shines a light on the hybrid Chinese-Malay flavours that made her first restaurant, Julie’s Kopitiam, such a cult hit.
Joining us for five nights this time (phew), Julie will be showcasing Gaga hits like cucur udang prawn & sweetcorn fritters, pickled chilies; sambal lala chilli clams; and slow-cooked lamb rendag, pickled okra, pandan turmeric rice. Check them out here, and prepare to get hungry.
